Prayer is the lifeline of every believer, so without prayer, we cannot survive our Christian walk and race.

Many a time, we neglect our personal prayer time for the sake of our jobs, family, ministry or simply put: the business of life. We tend to justify not praying by claiming to be busy serving God or volunteering for charities. We become entangled in the rat-race of life. We fake that we are fine, claiming ‘God knows our needs, so He will take care of us’.  Please do not get me wrong, surely God is all-knowing, and He always supplies our needs according to His riches in glory, in Christ Jesus. However, when He ministered here on earth, as He healed and delivered, He often asked the people what they wanted. He asked blind Bartimaeus what he wanted from Him.

Christ taught His disciples to ask, to seek and to knock as we will see later in this book; a statement made in the continuous present. So, Jesus was saying keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking – Don’t Stop.

Many a time, we replace what is meant to be “time alone with God” with preparing sermons, organising conferences or running up and down with good works. As a result, we do not spend adequate time with Jehovah, the Giver of life. We knowingly or unknowingly chase after the gifts and subtly forget about the Giver of the gifts.

Imagine driving a car without refilling it with diesel or petrol. If we don’t stop to fill it up, it is only a matter of time before the vehicle stops altogether.  Alternatively, if we keep using the car without servicing it and without changing the engine oil, it will pack-up far sooner, for lack of care. How much more, the reasons why we need to take care of our Christian walk and Christian lives, by taking time out, to be refuelled by God.

Prayer My Lifeline is to encourage everyone to pay attention to their personal prayer life and not neglect to pray for themselves and loved ones. Be an Intercessor first, for yourself, and then intercede for others. Charity begins at home. Jesus Christ prayed for Himself, for His disciples, for His enemies and then for us all.
